The Comedian

I recognized her on stage today. It would have been hard to guess 16 years ago when Mal was in first grade that she would grow up to become a comedian. As she pranced about the stage growling out her lines I marveled at the confident woman she had become. Living in L.A. now, Mal works the night clubs and comedy dens.

Alumni took turns on the stage but it was Mal that stuck in my mind.  I remember a quiet little girl with large brown eyes and a knowing smile.  Maybe it was the little smile that should have given her future career away.  All the while Mal was taking in the world, collecting material to use later in life.

Behold the amazing secret.  We never know what they become until some day our past unexpectedly meets up with us, in a theater, an airport, or on a stage.

  1. How neat to reunite with your former classmate. It’s neat to see where ppl land up later in life.

  2. My friend’s daughter is getting on the comedy circuit here in Chicago…the best place to start because of all the funny political things that happen. I think comedians probably use a notebook too! xo
